Hand record

Best for decision review. Include game type, stakes, positions, effective stacks, action sizes, board cards, and relevant reads.

Question answered: “What happened, and what could I do differently?”

Session P&L

Best for financial bookkeeping. It usually includes date, venue, duration, buy-ins, cash-outs, fees, and net result.

Question answered: “What was the financial result of this session?”

A practical minimum for a hand

  1. Write the stakes and effective stack.
  2. Identify positions and hole cards.
  3. Record every action and amount in sequence.
  4. Add each board street.
  5. Finish with the decision you want to review.

PokerArc provides both a Session Tracker for money and time and a separate hand recorder for individual decisions. The calculators remain standalone and local.

Frequently asked questions

Should I record every hand?

Usually the most valuable records are uncertain decisions, large pots, and spots that repeat.

Why record exact bet sizes?

They determine pot odds, stack-to-pot ratio, and the realistic options available.

When should I add a player read?

Add only what was known at the decision point so hindsight does not distort the review.
